For the “Wallonia Export Days” organized by the Walloon Export Agency on June 4-5 2018 in Louvain-la-Neuve, I made a presentation about the challenges of the new Silk Roads to an audience made of Belgian entrepreneurs and export experts.
I insisted on the fact that the new Silk Roads are not just railroads connected China to Europe. I called on European companies to seize opportunities offered by the “Belt and Road initiative” in all states involved in this programme.
The new infrastructure will create development in many parts of Asia and Africa. The AWEX agency has understood the importance of this initiative for Walloon companies.
On the occasion of the second edition of the MEDports Forum 2018, held in Marseille on February 7-8 2018, I was invited as speaker at a round table devoted to the opportunities offered by the “Belt and Road” initiative to Mediterranean ports. I focused mainly on the BRI network structure and emphasized the impact of this project on emerging economies in Africa and Asia.
This presentation, entitled “Emerging Economies and Integration along the Belt and Road Initiative” is available online.
Sebastien Goulard attended the China Construction 4.0 forum that was held in Changsha, in the Chinese province of Hunan.
Sebastien made a presentation entitled “Belt and Road Cooperation in City Construction Area”; this presentation exposed the housing challenges that most regions of the “Belt and Road Initiative” have to address.
This conference was part of the “Prefabricated Building and Construction Technology Expo 2017″, organised by Changsha and Hunan authorities.

On 6 March 2017, The Diplomat published one of my articles about Italian President and French Prime Ministre’s recent visit to China. In this article, I argue that European countries need to coordinate their actions and policies regarding the OBOR initiative launched by China.
In December 2016, The Diplomat published an article of mine entitled “France’s Presidential Elections: The Need for a China Agenda”. In this paper, I argue that presidential candidates should pay more attention to China in foreign affairs. China is often considered as a threat, whereas more relations with China may create new opportunities for France.
